Keep your bot online 24/7.
DBM Host runs your bot on your phone. As long as the phone is on, connected to the internet, and Android lets DBM Host work in the background, your bot stays online, even with the screen off.
Two settings to turn on first
In DBM Host, open Settings, then the Background section.
Battery: Unrestricted. Tap it and allow it in the window Android opens. When it is done, the app shows Done. Android will not stop your bots. Android pauses apps that use battery in the background: this tells it to leave DBM Host alone.
Allow notifications. While a bot runs, DBM Host shows a notification. Android requires it, and it keeps apps with a visible notification running.
These two settings fix most bots that go offline when the screen turns off.
What keeps it online, and what stops it
Keeps your bot online | Stops your bot |
|---|---|
The phone is charging, or its battery is not almost empty | Swiping DBM Host away in the recent apps list |
Wi-Fi or mobile data that stays on | Battery saver or power saving mode |
Battery set to Unrestricted for DBM Host | The phone switched off or restarted |
The DBM Host notification is visible | No internet for a long time |
Phones that need one more step
Some brands add their own battery manager on top of Android. If your bot still stops with the screen off, check these settings. The names change a little between phones and Android versions: if you cannot find them, search for battery in your phone settings.
Samsung: Settings > Battery > Background usage limits. Make sure DBM Host is not in Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps, and add it to Never sleeping apps.
Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO: open the DBM Host app info, then Battery saver, and choose No restrictions.
Huawei, Honor: Settings > Battery > App launch. Set DBM Host to Manage manually and turn on Run in background.
OnePlus, OPPO, realme: open the DBM Host app info, then Battery usage, and turn on Allow background activity.
On many phones you can also lock DBM Host in the recent apps list (long press its card, then Lock), so it is not closed when you clear your apps.
Good habits for a bot that runs all the time
Keep the phone on a charger. If your phone has a battery protection option (charging limited to 80% or 85%), turn it on: it is better for the battery.
Use a stable Wi-Fi. Mobile data works too, but a weak signal can disconnect the bot for a few seconds.
Do not swipe DBM Host away, and turn off battery saver while your bots run.
After the phone restarts, open DBM Host and press Start. DBM Host never starts a bot by itself: you always decide when it runs.
Check that it works
Start your bot. The DBM Host home screen shows 1 bot(s) online. They keep running with the screen off.
Turn the screen off and wait a few minutes.
Look at your bot in Discord: it should still be online and answer your commands.
